Elena Velez YEAR 00: RINASCITA – NYFW Debut

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Elena Velez Makes Her NYFW Debut with YEAR 00: RINASCITA
An exploration of industrial femininity, generational legacy, and rebirth.

New York, NY – September 17, 2021 — Designer Elena Velez debuted her highly anticipated first collection at New York Fashion Week with YEAR 00: RINASCITA, a raw and poetic exploration of rebirth through the lens of maternal memory and post-industrial decay.

Drawing inspiration from her Midwestern roots and a heritage of craftsmanship, Velez introduced her signature tension between structural armor and undone softness. The collection featured sculptural corsetry, distressed silks, salvaged textiles, and deconstructed silhouettes that reimagined the body as both vessel and battleground.

“This collection is about legacy—what we inherit emotionally and materially, and what we choose to reconstruct,” said Velez. RINASCITA (“rebirth” in Italian) signals the start of a powerful new voice in American fashion.

Designers Rebecca Henry and Akua Shabaka described the collection as “a love letter to the Black resort experience and our relationship with land and sea.” The show was accompanied by spiritual soundscapes, candlelight, and narrative voiceovers that honored collective memory and healing.

New York, NY – June 7, 2022Christopher John Rogers presented Collection 010 at New York Fashion Week to a full house of editors, stylists, and tastemakers. Known for theatrical elegance and narrative shape, Rogers delivered an electrifying collection that celebrated bold color, radical volume, and the drama of movement.

Collection 010 expanded on the CJR lexicon: architectural tailoring, cascading taffeta, neon plaids, and surreal silhouettes were styled with razor-sharp clarity. New explorations in knitwear and wool suiting marked a mature evolution, while sculptural gowns reminded audiences of Rogers’ red carpet DNA.

EDITORIAL PITCH – ELENA VELEZ’S NYFW DEBUT: YEAR 00: RINASCITA

Subject Line: “Introducing Elena Velez: A Raw, Industrial Debut at NYFW”

Body:

Hi [Editor’s Name],
I’d love to pitch a story around designer Elena Velez’s official New York Fashion Week debut with her striking collection, YEAR 00: RINASCITA.

As a designer rooted in Milwaukee and trained in New York, Elena fuses post-industrial grit with fragile romanticism. RINASCITA (“rebirth” in Italian) sets the tone for her emerging design language—reconstructing femininity through raw materials, corset-driven silhouettes, and references to maternal lineage and decay. The show marked a bold entrance onto the NYFW calendar, with sculptural garments that felt both war-torn and ceremonial.

We’d love to offer high-res imagery, backstage access, or interview time with Elena for a profile or feature.

Warmly,
Hamza Chaudhary
